David Asbery and Associates is a private OBGYN practice based in Mount Vernon, IL.  There are currently 3 OBGYNs in the practice, midwives, and physician extenders.  Call is only one night per week and only one weekend per month.  One weekend a month the Midwife takes front call.  She also takes front call on Mondays.

 

During the day, docs tend to deliver their own patients between 7 and 5.  After hours, the on call doctor typically does the delivery.  However, IF you wanted to deliver your patient when  you are in town after hours - that’s totally up to your discretion.  It is not an expectation nor a requirement.

 

The patient clientele is very nice - and the payor mix is mostly private insurance.  There is another practice in Central Illinois which takes the medicaide OB patients.

 

Dr. Asbery has a great reputation in the community.  In fact there was a doc in Breeze IL who - when I asked if he knew Dr. Asbery  - said 'He is who we send our cases to when we cant do the surgeries'.  David stays up with the latest surgical techniques both in Urogyn and in Pelvic Surgery, and does robotic surgery too.  Although a very advanced practitioner, he is willing to teach surgical techniques as well.

 

EMR is eClinicalWorks.  Call is q3, and right now the practice does approximately 30 deliveries a month between the three docs.

 

He said it is feasible to have a physician live in St Louis - or that Belleville is very nice too.  

 

Main office is in Mount Vernon.  There  is also another office in Centralia. Although the two offices are approximately 25 miles apart, you are not running between offices during any given day (unless you want to see a patient at the other office).

 

Good Sam in Mount Vernon is where the babies are delivered.  144 bed facility, Level 2 NICU.    Crossroads Hospital in Mount Vernon is where most of the GYN cases are done.  It is a 57 bed facillity.  There is a robot at both facilities.

 

Pay for general OBGYN will be very competitive - will be base plus production incentive.  The hospital will provide relocation and commencement bonus.
